Turning mechanics into product guidance
The piece explains what each mechanic does, where it can fail, and how it connects to retention or feature discovery. I kept the recommendations specific—such as visible progress, meaningful thresholds, guided habits, time-bounded competition, and feedback—without pretending that adding points automatically improves an app.
Audience and positioning
The audience includes product owners and organizations that may not think of themselves as game companies. The article makes game-design knowledge accessible while showing how Workinman can connect strategy, interface, analytics, and implementation.
Studio collaboration
The concept, examples, tone, and scope were refined through Workinman’s studio workflow with editors, executives, artists, and other contributors. I developed the approved direction into a structured, search-friendly article rather than a generic list of engagement tips.
My role
I wrote and structured the article from Workinman’s editorial direction and gamification expertise.
